With over 13 years of progressive leadership experience in the Information Technology field, Sylvia worked across a breadth of sectors (high-tech, telecommunications, financial services, crown corporations and management consulting). Sylvia developed the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals at all organizational levels.
Sylvia recognizes each individual’s unique talents, abilities, and strengths, and builds a trusting relationship with her clients. Sylvia coaches senior managers and professionals, high performing individuals, to stop and take stock of where they are and where they are going. Sylvia listens with compassion and asks probing questions to help clients move forward to realize and achieve their goals.
Sylvia offers a number of resources and tools in her coaching relationships. These resources and tools give clients the ability to see clearly who they are, and what is important to them.
Core Beliefs. Sylvia believes that:
- Aligning how you live your life with your values are keys to your success, happiness, and fulfillment.
- Focusing on your strengths and what you love to do is more effective than putting a lot of effort towards shoring up your weaknesses.
- Visualizing and focusing on the outcomes you want to see will make life a journey of ease, fulfillment and abundance!
Values. “Your Values are behavior and activities to which you are naturally drawn. Values are who you really are.”1 In this context, Sylvia’s true values are to:
- Catalyze – to impact others, to move forward, to coach, to encourage, to stimulate, to influence, to energize.
- Discover – to learn, to realize, to observe, to uncover, to discern, to perceive.
- Relate – to be connected, to be with, to unite, to be part of community, to be integrated, to bond.
- Contribute – to serve, to improve, to strengthen, to facilitate, to assist.
Sylvia serves as a catalyst for change by partnering with her coaching clients and building relationships of trust. She is living her life aligned with her values.
Strengths. “Each person’s greatest room for growth is in the areas of his or her greatest strength. Capitalize on your strengths and manage around your weaknesses.”2 In this context, Sylvia’s strengths are:
- Connectedness – things happen for a reason; we are all connected; we are all part of a larger picture; considerate, caring and accepting.
- Input – inquisitive; collects information; finds many things interesting. “The world is exciting because of its infinite variety and complexity.”
- Learner – loves to learn; energized by the steady journey from ignorance to competence; the outcome of the learning is less significant than the “getting there”.
- Positivity – generous with praise; quick to smile; enthusiasm is contagious; celebrate every achievement.
- Empathy – sense the emotions of people around me; intuitively see the world through their eyes; instinctive ability to understand.
Sylvia is currently focusing on:
- Delivering Corporate Team Sailing programs.
- Writing Success Stories about leadership, teamwork and coaching.
